Assetz® News – Hart ‘the most desirable place to live’

Posted by thizzfacedisco on January 6, 2012

A region of Hampshire is the most desirable place to live in the UK, new research suggests.

According to the latest Quality of Life Survey from UK mortgage provider Halifax, Hart is the best location to reside in at present.

The firm’s top 50 failed to include anywhere from the north of England, Scotland or Wales.

In total, 27 of the most desirable places to live are situated in southern England, while 15 are in eastern regions of the country.

When compiling its 2011 index, Halifax took into account factors such as jobs, the housing market, education, health and crime levels. Broadband access and traffic were among the other key issues considered by its researchers as part of the study.

The towns of Fleet and Yateley are found within the district of Hart, which also includes the River Hart.

Halifax economist Martin Ellis said: “Residents of Hart in Hampshire enjoy the best quality of life in the UK.

“They benefit from a combination of above-average weekly earnings, a low crime rate and good health amongst other factors.

“On the other hand, average house prices in the area are amongst the highest relative to local earnings, highlighting that a high standard of living often comes at a price.”
